Overview
A place steeped in history Bergerac welcomed in 1747 the first lodge of Dordogne, established by Bordeaux masons. The current temple, located at 14 rue du Docteur-Gaston-Simounet, is an early 20th century building, anchored in the urban heritage of Bergerac Visit schedule (90 minutes) Downstairs Room – History and Context
- Presentation of the arrival of Freemasonry in Bergerac and the evolution of the original lodge.
- Perspective with the city: its role in the 18th century, its expansion and the reception of new ideas. Temples on the floor – Architecture, symbols & playful discovery
- Tower of ritual spaces: arrangement, celestial vault, symbolic columns, mosaic pavement...
- Deepening of the architectural vocabulary (temple, forecourt, columns Jakin and Boaz...) Playful portraits of famous Freemasons (men and women), to understand their historical role in the Enlightenment and beyond.
