Two women writers evoke the sea - Dialogue between Sophie Avon and Catherine Poulain
Anchored on the banks of the floating basins, historic port of the Bordeaux of the nineteenth century, the Marine Sea Museum carries the vocation to highlight the heritage both historical and natural of the marine world, giving the beautiful part to the art of all eras. Based on the private collection of its founder, Norbert Fradin, the museum unfolds over several thousand square meters a universal history of navigation from Prehistory to the present day, and facilities dedicated to ocean life and the environmental issues that characterize it. Thanks to the richness of the collection, the contemporary art of each era accompanies the thousands of models of ships, iconic ships, historical and scientific objects that compose it, in order to place them in their aesthetic context, but it also questions our relationship to the oceans when it decorates boats, celebrates sailing events or proclaims the beauty and fragility of the marine environment.
