Donjon of a fortress built in the XIIIth and XIVth centuries by Philippe IV le Bel to check(control) the access of the Bridge(Deck) Saint-Bénezet, crossing the Rhône and connecting(binding) Empire with the Kingdom, the tower had a key strategical importance, and testifies even today of this warlike period.
