In the Ancien Régime, the earthenware of Rigné was a local and recognized production. Today, the tradition continues with the earthenware factory managed by the Communal Center of Social Action of Thouars. Originally intended to promote the integration of women in difficulty, the site offers work to 12 people, men and women alike, who find themselves 26 hours a week supervised by a technician. Long-term job seekers, they have joined the workshop after a recruitment panel and benefit from contracts of 4 months renewable up to 2 years; a step in their integration path and a job integral part of their socio-professional support. Associations, communities and individuals constitute the clientele of the workshop which has as trademark the custom work with customization of the forms and the motifs.
