The renovation / transformation of the cinema Movy Club
The Movy Club cinema in Forest will soon be transformed, renovated and expanded. It is one of the last remaining small local cinemas from a time when they were relatively widespread. The lecture will focus on the Ouest (architecture) and AAC (heritage) project, which aims to bring together issues of local cinema, old restored reels, memory and heritage... with those of Dolby Surround and today’s acoustic issues, the place of landscape in the heart of residential blocks, the relationship with neighbours and what the site aspires to become, around and beyond just its cinema. Ouest is a Brussels architecture firm fascinated by the city and by what is already there. It works on and with existing buildings in a careful and uninhibited way, creating projects that are firmly rooted in the urban fabric. www.ouest.be The lecture will be given in French. In collaboration with Complexe Albert Hall.
