Discover the castle of Castries
The castle of Castries is built in the seventeenth century on a hill overlooking the region. It was the home, for three centuries, of the family of La Croix de Castries. As a fish merchant dynasty, she quickly became powerful and influential in the political field. The family’s ambitions led to the creation of French gardens designed by the famous landscaper André Le Nôtre and the construction of the largest private aqueduct in France, designed by the engineer Pierre-Paul Riquet. A jewel of castriot!
