At the beginning of the 20th century, a historian reports that a first levelling has already reduced the height of the tumulus by half. In 1960, the farmer operating the farm plot undertook a partial levelling which again reduced the height of the mound. These successive operations arouse the concern of the Prehistoric Antiquities. They open a filing body that will lead to excavation campaigns.
