Tour of Durhamstown Castle & Buildings
Dating back as far as 1500 and with a relatively new 19th century wing, Durhamstown Castle is reputed to be one of the oldest inhabited houses in County Meath. It was in a precarious state when purchased by Dave and Sue Prickett in 1996 and they have been restoring it with great patience and flair as their home and workplace ever since. Dave and Sue will be giving tours of the castle and buildings. The gardens are free to roam also - don't miss the Medieval garden which is taking shape very nicely under their care. Durhamstown Castle is opening for Heritage Week in association with Historic Houses of Ireland. Tour of Castle and Buildings: 5 euro Morning coffee is also available for €3. Cake or biccies for sale Afternoon tea is 25 euro: Eton Mess with Wexford strawberries & Ruby’s meringues, homemade scones with all the trimmings plus a slice of delicious Apple & Olive cake (sounds quite medieval!) Tea & Coffee & tour of the Castle included: €25 All served in the Great Barn.
