Overview

Roscrea Heritage Society is delighted once again to join Marcus and Irene Sweeney for what promises to be a very informative tour of Fancroft Mill and Gardens.

Fancroft Mill & Gardens are located about 4 km North of the town of Roscrea, Co. Tipperary. An extensive conservation project, commenced in 2006 by Marcus & Irene Sweeney, has resulted in the rescue from dereliction of this mill complex which is of noted industrial heritage importance. The rescue from dereliction received public recognition in 2017 when the Irish Georgian Society awarded the owners one of their conservation awards. The inaugural Norman Campion award for Best Restored Industrial Site or Museum was conferred on Fancroft Mill & Gardens by the Industrial Heritage Association of Ireland in 2019.

Transport to and from the mill will be provided.

Bus will depart from Castle Street (Roscrea) at 9.45 am sharp.
On arrival at the mill, visitors will be given a brief talk on the history of the site, especially the mill. This will be followed by a guided tour of the mill and complimentary light refreshments. Following this, the gardens can then be explored at leisure.

Marcus and Irene will be available as guides for those who are interested in further information. Suitable footwear is strongly recommended . We do not advise wearing of sandals even in warm weather. The bus will depart from the mill at 12.30pm and return to Castle Street (Roscrea)
