Tour of Hazelwood Grounds + Roof Repair Demonstration
Come visit Hazelwood House, just outside Sligo town, to hear all about the history of this early eighteenth-century residence, and to learn about traditional slate and lead roofing repairs.
Constructed in 1731, the pre-eminent architect Richard Cassels designed this Palladian masterpiece for the Wynne family.
Works are currently underway to re-slate the main roof of the house, which had started to fail. The Historic Structures Fund partly funded the roof repair project, with support from Sligo County Council and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
Crannóg Roofing will carry out roof repair demonstrations on-site during the tour, and Lucy O’Connor, G1 architect from Howley Hayes Cooney Architects, will provide a short talk on Hazelwood House's long and rich history.
Spaces are limited and tours will last one hour.
