Visitors will be brought on a tour following in the footsteps of famous historical figures, Goldsmith, Wordsworth, Scott, Edgeworth & Wilde. Visitors will visit two churches with wonderful Harry Clarke stained glass windows, the walled garden of Edgeworthstown House, the graveyard where Maria Edgeworth and Isola Wilde, sister to Oscar Wilde is interred. The tour ends at the unique museum dedicated to Maria Edgeworth who was considered the 'Mother of the Novel' and an International Literary figure in the 19th century. The museum houses some rare artifacts dating back to the sixteen hundred's.
The event is a guided walk with indoor visits to historic buildings. Due to the nature of the tour it is not fully wheelchair accessible. The walk just involves gentle slopes and is suitable for all even persons with moderately restricted mobility. It is recommended to wear comfortable footwear an clothing suitable for all Irish summer weather conditions.
