Overview

This castle is the cradle of the family of Aradon, important seigniory on the territory having occupied a honourable place(square) to the ducale court(yard). The first member(limb) known for the family, Alain, is quoted in the testament of the 1st duke Jean The Russet in 1288\\. In some generations, and thanks to "beneficial" conjugal alliances(wedding rings), this family adds to its seigniory of Kerdréan (Kerran), those of Ratz, of Kerrat, of Pelven "and other less prestigious places" of the diocese of Vannes(gates, cracks). This enrichment allowed to Aradon to restore and to extend the castle of Kerran and to play a leading role in the wars of the League. Two brothers particularly became famous during these events: Georges, then bishop of Vannes(gates, cracks), and Jérôme, governor of Hennebont. It is in Jérôme d' Aradon that it is possible to attribute(award) the most old(former) part(party) of the castle. It is again possible to admire, in the course of a pedestrianized path(way) which follows the external wall of the park, the superb facade Renaissance of the castle.
