Tours of 20 Dominick Street Lower Dublin 1
As part of Heritage Week 2024, we are opening the doors of the historic premises at 20 Lower Dominick Street for walking tours of the building. The building which was built in the 1700's by master craftsman Robert West features elaborate plaster work on its ceiling that encapsulates Irish Rococo.
20 Lower Dominick Street is remarkable for its rich interior ornament, perhaps the most celebrated in the country. The house is double the size of other Georgian houses in the vicinity and the form of plaster modeling is executed in situ using lime plaster, modelled over armatures of wire and has been carefully conserved by its custodians.
Tours of the house are taking place on Saturday 17th August 11am -11;40 and 11:50-12:30pm and on Tuesday 21st August - at the same times.
As part of this celebration of 20 Lower Dominick Street, a Zoom talk will take place online on the 21st of August at 3pm (Tickets required) with experts on the topic of architectural value and importance. This event is open to all and will feature inputs from Prof Christine Casey, Trinity College Dublin and Kevin Blackwood, Architect and Arran Henderson, Professional Tour Guide.
Tickets available for all 5 events via eventbrite.
