Join us for a ‘Try the Pipes’ event in Na Píobairí Uilleann for a chance to get hands on experience with the uilleann pipes. This workshop is suitable for adults, teens or children age 8+. The event will be held on Monday 18th August from 4pm to 6.30pm in Na Píobairí Uilleann. Hosted by accomplished uilleann piper and reed maker Joe Byrne, individuals will have the opportunity to try out the pipes for themselves under the guidance and assistance of an experienced piper. Joe will also do a reed making demonstration, showing the unique hand crafting skills required to make the reeds that give the instrument its unique and captivating sound. There will also be a short talk on the history of the uilleann pipes from NPU archivist Emmett Gill.
