Overview

Turlough Hill Station; Ireland's only pumped storage power station, located in the scenic Wicklow Mountains, was brought into commercial operation by ESB in 1974. This innovative project was the largest civil engineering operation even undertaken in the country when construction began in 1968. 2024 marks 50 years of renewable energy generation at Turlough Hill Today, the station continues to play an integral role in the delivery of clean energy as we move towards ESB's goal for a Net Zero Carbon future by 2040. The pop-up photographic exhibition will tell the story of this unique generation station and the feats of engineering achieved in its construction and operation.
