Presentación de la restauración de un estandarte de temática religiosa

En el contexto de los primeros años 40 del siglo XX, el sistema educativo y la sociedad en general vivieron muy influenciados por la religiosidad, que se manifestaba en expresiones públicas multitudinarias de fervor e identificación con los valores del catolicismo vigente. El Instituto Femenino de Bilbao fue también un lugar de expresión de este tipo de actuaciones, cuya finalidad era afianzar una visión católica de la vida, especialmente dirigida a las mujeres.

La restauración del estandarte que mostramos a los visitantes, con la advocación a la Virgen de Begoña, forma parte de un proyecto de conservación y difusión de Patrimonio Educativo que va más allá del propio objeto y que busca interpretarlo desde la mentalidad que lo genera y el contenido que transmite.

Presentation of the restoration of a religious-themed banner

In the context of the early 1940s, the educational system and society in general were strongly influenced by religiosity, which manifested itself in massive public expressions of fervor and identification with the values of Catholicism in force. The Women's Institute of Bilbao was also a place of expression of this type of actions, whose purpose was to strengthen a Catholic vision of life, especially aimed at women.

The restoration of the banner that we show to visitors, with the dedication to the Virgin of Begoña, is part of a project of conservation and dissemination of Educational Heritage that goes beyond the object itself and seeks to interpret it from the mentality that generates it and the content it conveys.
