Ulster Aviation society “UAS”
A charitable society with a diverse group of voluntary enthusiasts and the 2018 winners of the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service. Th Ulster Aviation Society work on a voluntary basis to further public education in the history of aviation.
They have 40+ aircraft and vehicles within their Heritage collection and Aviation Museum, housed within two Second World War hangars at Maze Long Kesh, outside Lisburn. Their Heritage collection contains everything from vintage WWII fighters through to Cold War-era fast jets as well as Shorts designed and built aircrafts, civilian aircraft. The hanger houses military helicopters, engines, artefacts and it has specialist aviation-themed rooms for the First World War, Second World War, Aldergrove Airport, Radio Room, Air Crew Life Support, Polish Aircrew, Royal Observer Corps, extensive aviation library, plus rare aviation reference materials, all with strong links to aviation within the island of Ireland.
