Unprecedented opening of the Château de Beaulieu in Poullignac
Attached to a fief, Beaulieu’s home in Poullignac belongs to the typology of seigneurial homes of the small and medium rural nobility. Probably dating from the 15th and 16th centuries for its oldest parts, it was completely remodelled in the 18th century. He then belonged to the Bassoulet family and in particular to Jean Bassoulet, prosecutor at Blanzac and notary within the firm of Master Gilbert at Poullignac. He was the son of another Jean Bassoulet, master surgeon. The fence wall of the courtyard and part of the commons were built in the 19th century by Jean-Pierre Bassoulet (1769-1852), sons and grandsons of the previous ones. Ideally built on a plate overlooking a valley, the Beaulieu home is distinguished by the influence of its architectural program, articulated around three courtyards and a large garden with a long pond, and by the elegance of its volumes, in particular the two pavilions of the main building.
