El palacio Lazárraga-Amézaga (hoy museo-kulturgune) siempre ha sido un lugar destacado de la cultura vasca. No sólo por el continente, un hermoso edificio del siglo XVI con maravillosas pinturas a grisalla, sino por su contenido. Como si fuese un cofre del tesoro nos transmite la riqueza de la fiesta del carnaval tradicional, de los oficios y de las artesanías propias de nuestra tierra y del euskera.
En la casa se encuentra el centro de interpretación del manuscrito Lazárraga, un escrito del siglo XVI que demuestra el arraigo del euskera en Álava en aquella época y nos ayuda a divulgar, al menos un poco más, al desconocido poeta alavés Juan Pérez de Lazarraga (+1567).
Sin duda, el lenguaje crea todo tipo de realidades. Nombrar lo que vemos o sentimos da identidad a las cosas y las organiza entorno a esquemas conceptuales que nos hace entenderlo todo mejor y más rápidamente.

The Lazárraga-Amézaga palace (today a museum-kulturgune) has always been a prominent place in Basque culture. Not only for its container, a beautiful 16th century building with marvellous grisaille paintings, but also for its contents. As if it were a treasure chest, it conveys the richness of the traditional carnival festivities, the trades and crafts of our land and the Basque language.
The house houses the interpretation centre of the Lazárraga manuscript, a 16th century writing that shows how deeply rooted the Basque language was in Alava at that time and helps us to spread the word, at least a little more, about the unknown poet Juan Pérez de Lazarraga (+1567) from Alava.
Language undoubtedly creates all kinds of realities. Naming what we see or feel gives identity to things and organises them around conceptual schemes that make us understand everything better and more quickly.
