Viking Dagger Making
Join us on for Heritage Week 2024 on the 23rd August for lots of family fun and entertainment! Throughout the day, the School of Irish Archaeology will be offering a creative Viking Dagger Making workshop. Children will learn about the ancient craft of Bladesmithing and the art of sword design including the role a blacksmith played in society. To complement this exciting workshop, we will discuss the ancient technology of leatherwork. Children will make a leather scabbard for their Viking Seax. Led by the friendly staff from School of Irish Archaeology who will help the children add their own personal touch by inscribing their name on the blade using the Runic alphabet.
