Overview

The Romanesque hexagonal tower of the old church of Usselskirch has passed through 1000 years of history. Its shape, height, blind arcature are unusual. The great church of the eighteenth century, classified as a historical monument in 1930, did not survive the bombardments of the nearby Maginot line, during the Second World War. But the thick walls of 1.40 meters of the old tower resisted. At the foot of the tower, eight stations (of the original fourteen) of the Way of the Cross of the seventeenth century can be observed. On one side of the tower, a Roman or pre-Christian statue head.
