Overview

The theatre of novelties is currently a major element of the architectural heritage of the city of Tarbes. This theatre, construction of which began on November 14th, 1885 on the plans of the architect G. Labat, is in pure tradition of lyric Italian of the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries. Beyond its ceiling in vault adorned with a fresco showing Dionysus in all its splendour, of its stage(scene) of 16m of length and of 10m of depth with the proscenium and its capacity of 588 places(squares), it is the cantilever of the balcony that allows a great closeness of the stage(scene). The walls of the home(foyer) " Yvette Horner ", inaugurated on the October 1st, 2004, are decorated by new Muses who governed liberal arts in Greek mythology. Its entrance hall with its friezes, its bronze statues and its caryatids make of this theatre a place of choice(selection, choices, selections), a real candy dish at the heart of the city of Tarbes.
