Overview

The Mosque, a space of spirituality and instruction, is also a place of life and culture, source of fruitful interlacing. Inaugurated in July 1981, the Great Mosque of Mantes is characterized by a sober neo-Muresque style, fruit of the collaboration of two architects, one French, the other Moroccan. It is one of the first buildings in France built, dedicated to Muslim worship. A guided tour is offered to you, extended by an exchange around a mint tea and Maghreb pastries. Come discover the mosaics from the Briare factory in Loiret, a reference in industrial art, laid by a master craftsman especially from Morocco. You will cross the nave to reach the mihrab, niche oriented towards Mecca, and the minbar, a carved wooden pulpit used during the Friday prayer.
