Visit of the National Library of France (BnF) - Site Arsenal
Third site of the BnF, nestled in the heart of the Marais in the Bastille district, the Arsenal is the former residence of the great masters of artillery. Transformed into a public library in 1797, from the vast encyclopedic collection of the Marquis de Paulmy, it is today an integral part of the BnF and offers for consultation more than one million documents (books, journals, manuscripts, prints, maps and plans, music, etc.). On the occasion of the Heritage Days, the Arsenal is unveiled to the public and offers visitors to admire remarkable heritage sites (cabinet La Meilleraye from the 17th century, rocaille music room from the 18th century, reading room from the Second Empire, Sully rooms from the early 19th century...), or even to visit an exhibition of treasures from its collections.
