Overview

Around 1920, there was a home in Marius-Ary Leblond Street in a Creole house for the Hakkas of the Mei-Xian region, settled in the south as workers for the large landowners of Saint-Pierre. This first building was replaced by a concrete building in the 1950s. On both sides of the statue of Guan Di, god of war, letters and trade, are the altars dedicated to Pao Koung, god of justice, Cai Shen, god of fortune, Lu Zu, Taoist god or an altar dedicated to the ancestors. The site includes since the 1950s, a chapel but also the headquarters of a Chinese club, kitchens, banquet and meeting rooms. With the exception of the entrance porch, the building does not correspond to the canons of Chinese religious architecture. The site is open to the public, however ceremonies and festivities, including the anniversary of Guan-Di are now taking place in the new pagoda in Terre-Sainte.
