Visit of the Valentine’s Church in Autricourt
The oldest part (the chevet) of the church dates from the late 15th century. The first five bays of the nave, the vestibule and the façade were built in 1786 by Pierre-Jean Guillemot, engineer of bridges and roads. The latter initiated, carried out or followed many projects of porches and naves in the Châtillonnais, and this despite his appointment in 1782 as chief engineer of the south of the Generalitat of Burgundy. The church (excluding the western façade and bell tower) was listed as a Historic Monument in 1914\\. The inspector general who drafted and presented the report to the Historic Monuments Commission was Paul Selmersheim. This architect graduated from the Beaux-Arts, born in Langres, left his mark on several dioceses. He received numerous prizes and awards, including the Universal Exhibition in 1878, or a Grand Prize at the Turin Exhibition in 1911.
