Overview

Built in 1899 by the architect Armand Charier, this villa served as a holiday residence for the Ouizille family until 1940 (owner of a sardine canning factory until 1924). At the end of 1940, the villa Kerlilon was requisitioned by the Germans. On June 23, 1940, the CA Doënitz of the German Navy installs its PC in the villa Kerlilon. Marine charts covered the walls and small flags indicated the position of submarines, convoys and other key points. After the war, the three neighboring villas are rented by the national Navy which houses its headquarters there. Since 1945, the villa Kerlilon serves exclusively as the residence of the Admiral commanding the maritime district of Lorient.
