Overview

The castle of Sévérac dominates the eponymous village of its butte which rises to more than 800 meters above sea level. A magnificent panorama stretches before our eyes: from the green plains of the Aveyron Valley to the Causses, find yourself thanks to the orientation table. Sévérac d'Aveyron was built around this castle, and the life of the village is always rhythmic historical past out of the ordinary: in summer, the village wakes up to the sandstone of the street theater, guided tours of the medieval buildings and the many animations that take place at the castle and in the streets of the city. From the tenth century the local lords established their stronghold in this strategic place. The castle has changed hands over the centuries: the Sévérac, the Armagnac and the Arpajon have succeeded each other. They were the last to build the large Renaissance-style castle under restoration.
