Overview

The current building(ship) is due to Gérard Jacqua, French National Architect. It is about reconstruction as before and on its foundations of origin of the chamber of commerce destroyed by eruptions of 1902. This reconstruction had as objectives: * to restore a building(ship), a real archetype of Creole architecture and witness(baton) of refinement and of prosperity of Saint-Peter at the end of the XIXth century; * to offer to the city a place of tourist information, of exhibition(exposure) and of meetings; * to participate in the requalification of the place(square) Bertin and in the revitalisation of the centre-market town. It is a local space allocated to service(department) heritage of the City of Saint-Peter, labelled city of art and of history(story) today.
