We present to you the history of the publishing house founded on February 22, 1838, by Auguste Durand, whose diploma as a bookseller (from February 22, 1838) we keep; taken over by his son-in-law Guillaume Pedone-Lauriel from 1860 onwards, of which you will find notably the prizes for participation in World Expos including that of Vienna in Austria in 1871; taken over in 1894 by Auguste Pedone who founded notably the Revue générale de droit international public (RGDIP) ; taken over in 1931 by Jeanne Pedone, who notably was president of the law commission of the Syndicat national de l'édition (SNE); taken over by Madeleine Pedone who notably edited Raphaël Lemkine in 1939 and 1940 (Originally from Lemberg, he participated in the origin of international criminal law and is the father of the notion of Genocide) and an Egyptian student Boutros Boutros Gahli (who became years later Secretary-General of the United Nations) ; taken over in 1962 by his nieces and nephews then by Colette Pedone and Denis Pedone who continued the specialization in international law notably by taking over the Revue française de droit aérien et spacial (founded in 1945), by continuing without interruption since 1889 the Revue d'histoire diplomatique (RHD) and the RGDIP since 1894, publishing the work of the Institut de droit international (IDI), initiating the Annuaire du droit de la mer and the collection of the Indemer’s works, publishing the Archives de politique criminelle (APC), the work of the French Committee on Private International Law, the work of the French Society for International Law (SFDI), ...; the society is continued today by Priscille Pedone, Bénédicte Ribot-Pedone and Marc Pedone, with always the same editorial policy which is to promote Law in international relations.
