Overview

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, come visit freely the church Notre-Dame de la Purification in Berzé-la-Ville. The church Notre-Dame de la Purification of Berzé-la-Ville was given to the abbey of Cluny in 1093 by the bishop of Mâcon. In the 15th century, it was enlarged and embellished, and in the 18th century, the porch and windows were modified. In the choir and chapels, one can admire stencilled drawings from the 16th century. On the arch between the choir and the apse, we distinguish two undated paintings representing one Saint-Blaise and the other Saint-Nicolas. The painting of the altar piece is associated with the name of the church, The presentation at the temple and the purification of the Virgin. On the southern stained glass is represented the martyrdom of Saint Blaise, copy of a fresco from the chapel of the Monks of Berzé-la Ville. The work Berzé-la-Ville, a parish in Mâconnais and its church Notre-Dame de la Purification relates the history of this heritage.
