The museum, devoted to Fine Arts, has the label "Museum of France". It established(constituted) in 1859 following the legacy agreed to its home town by a rich collector, Benoît De Puydt. Throughout his life, this clerk of the court, curious and passionate, gathered(collected) important set(group) of works of art, witnesses(batons) of Flemish culture the from XVth century till XIXth century (paintings(paints) of which Brueghel of hell, sculptures, ceramics, anversois toilets(offices), lace and decorative art). Extending the work of Benoît de Puydt and respecting the spirit of collector's house, successive donations of artists (Pharaoh of Winter) and of amateurs reinforced such a particular(special) charm of this museum.
