16 September 2025 (18:30 - 20:00) Please note this walk takes place on Tuesday 16th September. Newton Green Cemetery is very rarely open to the public. We will cover some of the history of Newton on Ayr. The town gained a new charter from James VI in 1595 and was the seat of the Wallaces of Craigie. The cemetery was opened at the end of the 18th century and tells the story of a seafaring community. Guided walk at 6:30pm meeting at the entrance to the cemetery. On street parking on Waggon Road or Weir Road.
