In 1890, the Compagnie des Bains built a spa complex at La Mouillère, which includes a spa, a hotel and a casino. The Casino’s Party Hall is used for theatre performances of comedy opera, operetta and comedy, as well as symphonic concerts and dances. The history of the CDN and this party hall, transformed over the years, are intimately intertwined. André Mairal, first director of the CDN (from 1972 to 1981) has three places: the Municipal Theatre, the Casino Theatre and the Boutiquethéâtre. The historic, central and prestigious Casino Hall logically becomes that of the CDN: its mission of decentralization takes all its meaning in a beautiful place of the regional capital, even equipped and installed in a rudimentary way. The next manager, Denis Llorca, will then choose the Casino room.
