Weekend Art and Archaeology in Villariès
A museum of ARCHEOLOGICAL SITES: On excavations carried out from 1978 to 1990 ( on places occupied since Prehistory): Monastery (Order of Grandmont XIIè-XVIIIè s), Medieval Rural Habitat and Outbuildings, in a region bordering Toulouse and the Tarn. These sites located along the pilgrimage routes (formerly Roman), built with clay and pebbles; but which can be found in the landscape, at the detours of the paths (still preserved) or near the rivers, where the Benedictines of Saint Theodard, Gaillac, Sainte Foy de Conques, created many Sauvetés, recovered by Saint Sernin (late 11th century), or by the Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem, to become Bastides in the 13th century; an exceptional history for the County of Toulouse without which this city would not exist! A fertile soil: attic, reservoir of men, around Toulouse, to trade with L'Océan, here up to the Black Mountain (like Riquet which later, with its Canal joins the Mediterranean!).
