When Art Deco reclaims its place

Overview

A neglected district, scorned after the industrial decline that left it scarred, Molenbeek has developed some of the most picturesque Art Nouveau and Art Deco buildings. The importance of Saint Jean-Baptiste church is well established. But which of these multi-apartment buildings, bourgeois or working-class single-family homes from the interwar period and social housing estates has been able to preserve the stylistic purity of the Art Deco and modernist spirit? That’s what you will discover when you visit this Brussels municipality. In collaboration with Itinéraires SH. Photographs are permitted, but only with smartphones.
