Overview

Visit Whiddy Island to explore the seashore and learn more about the seaweeds that grow there. Frances will also discuss the ecology of seaweeds and the myriad of uses to which they can be put. The event will also look at the ways in which the public can help increase the knowledge of the distribution of marine species by using a citizen science recording app. The session on the shore will run for approximately 90 minutes from 11:30am to 1pm (see below for information on ferry times). No dogs allowed. Free event (except cost of ferry). No booking required. Ferries leave Bantry’s Main Pier at 11am (or 9:30am if you wish to spend more time exploring the island), returning at 13:45 (or 15:45) . €8 return. Refreshments and toilets are available at the pub on the island.
