Wreath laying commemoration to acknowledge the men of the Royal Irish Regiment
The 18th Regiment of Foot Royal Irish Regiment (& South Irish Horse) Association extends an invitation to mark the 110th Anniversary of the start of WW1 & acknowledge the men from the regiment as well as it's sister regiments (Connaught Rangers, Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians), Royal Dublin Fusiliers, Royal Munster Fusiliers & South Irish Horse).
The Association will hold a wreath laying ceremony beside the Boer War Memorial on Kickham Barracks Plaza at 4.30pm on the 24th August 2024. The Barrack's is a significant location as it was the depot for the Royal Irish Regiment from 1873 - 1922, with many men from Tipperary, Kilkenny, Waterford & Wexford enlisting with the regiment.
An invite is extended to descendants of those who served with the Regiment (1684-1922), fellow regimental associations, veteran associations (IUNVA, ONE). history groups & the general public to attend & lay a wreath.
We express our appreciation the support from the Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford & Kilkenny County Councils.
