Zion Parish Church is opening on Saturday 17th from 10am to 4pm for a series of talks, tours, music and an exhibition about local history and environs by interesting speakers and performers from the area. This fun day is starting with a music workshop for under 5's (10am) and a coffee van will provide refreshments. Walk and talks will show us the local geology (10:30am) , the stained glass windows (11:30am) and the history of the area in the 1870's (1pm and 2pm) and will be interspersed by musical recitals and informal chamber music. We are delighted to welcome Daimee Ng, concertmaster IYOI in advance of her first solo concert in the NCH, who will give a violin recital including Bach and modern Irish composer John Kinsella at 11:30am. The hugely popular local Rathmines and Rathgar Musical Society will perform a selection of their well known pieces at 12:30pm. At 1:30pm, we will hear an organ recital and Choral music that would have been performed in the church since it was built in 1863 from William Forrest and Iseult Law. Chamber music, with piano, violin and cello will entertain visitors in the afternoon, with tours of the church. We are hoping for an informal day of entertainment and information, with an interesting exhibition about the history, geology of the church and the local area on view. Please come and join us.
