Overview
In the dark hills of Montenegro, in the land of crocheting and writing, the crochet hook and the pencil were looking for a hand that would lead them into the world, on a pattern, as on a carpet. It was an easy search on the proud stone of freedom to which the great Sartre bowed. It is a Montenegrin karst on which everything that sprouts must look like a poem. The pencil boasted of the omnipotent hand that guides it and with which it manages to learn about glorious history, see cities, monasteries and churches, bridges and museums... Experience the night over Cetinje, the morning over Boka, travel through time, sleep on the Emperor's Bridge, drink from Podgorica glasses on Duklja, washing with Durmitor water, catching snowflakes on Orlovi krš, imagining the most powerful fortress of the southern Adriatic on the way to Njeguše... Thurmfort Gorazda... Feeding swallows on Mamula... - And you crochet?, asked the pencil. - While crocheting, the women sing, talk, talk about legends and secrets, confide in each other, talk about the hard life, about daily struggles, about what You wrote down, they are brave, imprinting the unusual language of the climate into the fabric. Your language, the language in which you write, is understood only by some, and my language, the language of crochet - everyone - the crocheter said for all of Europe to hear. For the first time, the pen feels powerless and silent. Someone who writes quickly and deftly is said to crochet. One who crochets quickly is never said to write. Who will write if crochet dies out? It's a minute to twelve. You have instructions. Multiply your hands. It's the 21st century.

One of the traditional and popular handicraft skills in Montenegro is crocheting, which has largely been lost in recent decades, due to the development of industrial production, and is now relevant again in contemporary fashion design. Crocheting was used even in early cultures, and instead of a crochet hook, the index finger was used as the main tool. Crocheting is actually making, that is, making fabric from thread or wool. It is also called crocheting and consists of threading loops of thread through each other. There are countless schemes and ideas for crocheting tablecloths, milieu, various clothing items, toys, accessories - bags and jewelry. Today, the materials needed for crocheting are very available and affordable, various threads, wool and essential crochet hooks with which the magic begins and ends, and dexterous and hardworking golden hands are certainly the strongest asset. Modern sources of information in the form of various social networks greatly facilitate and speed up the process of learning this skill, in addition to traditional "live" courses and workshops. The skill of crocheting was often practiced in our area and for decades women made numerous decorative or useful items, clothing items and socialized along the way. In the past, women crocheted together, drank coffee, talked, and sang along the way. According to many studies, crocheting in some way calms the mind. At the same time, when you have in front of you something that you made yourself, with your own hands, you feel indescribable. With this project, we want to remind about old crafts, and especially to encourage all the users of our Library, visually impaired and blind women, for whom making artistic handicrafts would be doubly important: first, it could be a permanent source of income for them, because making souvenirs using old crafts is a significant potential for the development of female and social entrepreneurship. Secondly, the crocheting courses, which they would organize, would be extremely important for them, because they would master or perfect a handwork skill that would help them spend their free time more beautifully and with better quality and raise the quality of their lives. This opportunity is unique for our users and all other interested young ladies. We are planning to organize two two-month courses, with participants of different ages, where priority will be given to young users, and licensed educators with many years of experience, who acquired skills from their grandmothers and great-grandmothers, would initially impart their knowledge of basic crocheting skills and making small decorative and useful items, and later, in the advanced course, the participants would crochet items that would represent selected examples of the flora and fauna of Montenegro ( ), and in that way they would learn about the natural heritage of their country and at the same time make unique items. After the trainings, they would prepare an exhibition of the manufactured items, and those specimens, which represent the endemic species of flora and fauna of Montenegro, would be completed with an audio story, which would be activated on mobile devices by scanning the QR code on the product label. An introductory story about the traditional way of making objects for wide use, as well as the way of crocheting, with segments recorded at the workshops, along with the impressions of the participants of the training, as well as showing the exhibition of the made specimens of the flora and fauna of Montenegro from thread, would be recorded in the form of a short video, which would further contribute to the revival of this creative and interesting profession. We plan to broadcast it in the media across the country, resource centers and day care centers for children and youth with developmental disabilities, in order to interest as many young people as possible in completing their free time with creative activities.

European Dimension
When it comes to the European dimension of this project, it should be emphasized that the integration of local cultures and their reflection and recognition in European trends is best manifested in this way, in the language of skill and tradition understood by the whole of Europe and all its peoples and citizens. The authenticity of small cultures in the family of European nations has a future through the cultivation of traditional skills disguised in new, modern clothes and designs that speak in a true dialogue with as many people as possible. Such a form of communication has long since become a reality throughout Europe, and it is especially significant for microcultures like ours, which strive to add its humble fragment to the mosaic of European family traditions, which is certainly missing, so that the picture is fuller and more complete, and the outlines of community and belonging are clearer. This project aims at the affirmation of European values, building bridges and connections as the basic values for which it was launched, with a special reference to the symbolic level of this project, which is important not only for us, but for the whole of Europe, precisely because it points to the values that are endangered, and which should be preserved and which are originally European.
