Renaissance of Irish Grand Pipes Forgotten Lineage
Vsevolod Sadovyi describes how the evolution of ancient human consciousness is reflected in archaic art and early musical forms, affects instrument building and leads to the appearance of the influential but unfairly forgotten tradition of Píob Mhór. Vsevolod Sadovyi (1986, Ukraine) - musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, researcher teacher and instrument maker - was born and raised in Lviv. In parallel with his studies in the Academy of Music, he began to explore Ukrainian and European musical folklore and the legacy of modal early music of the European Middle Ages and Renaissance. He co-founded the Lviv Music Guild early music society. He performs in Europe and the USA with concerts, lectures and master classes. Since 2023 he has lived in Loughrea and explores the rich Irish music traditions. The performer has more than 30 traditional percussion, string and wind instruments in his arsenal. At the centre of his musical interests are the principles of rituality, modality, cyclicity and improvisation, as well as the therapeutic aspects of music common to archaic, early and modern musical practices.
