The Queen's Hall
28 September 2025 (11:00 - 15:00)
The Queen’s Hall continues to thrive as one of Edinburgh's oldest and most varied independent live music, comedy and spoken word venues.
The building started off life as Hope Park Chapel in 1823 (later becoming the church of Newington and St Leonard's) and continued as a place of worship until 1976, when it closed.
An appeal was launched in 1977 and after raising £850,000 to convert the church to a concert hall. The Hall provided rehearsal and performance premises for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
The Queen's Hall is a category A Listed Building, designed in the neoclassical style by Robert Brown.
It was officially opened by HM Queen Elizabeth II on 6 July 1979. Since then, the building has been home to a different form of worship - to great music performed by world-class artists. Acts who have graced The Queen’s Hall stage include Courtney Pine, Coldplay, Nina Simone, Blur, Nigel Kennedy, Lenny Henry, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Adele, David Byrne and many more.
