Tay Valley Family History Society
27 September 2025 (10:00 - 16:00)
Tay Valley Family History Society promotes the study of family history, genealogy and local history throughout the Tay Valley: Dundee, Angus, Perthshire, Fife and Kinross. Our Research Centre in Princes Street holds our library, including over 5000 items relating to Family and Local History, and our research computers and other materials. Our expert Volunteers staff the premises and give assistance to society members and to visitors, and our Research Team assist members who live outwith our area.
We publish a journal, The Historian, with member-submitted articles three times yearly, produce a series of video talks and online discussions for our members, and run classes to help people progress with knowledge of ancestors and their lives.
We welcome people to drop in to see what we do, talk with our knowledgeable volunteers, learn about our resources, and find how to begin to uncover their family’s history. Our volunteers will explain how to find the resources needed, so visitors may start to explore their ancestors’ lives within Dundee, the Tay Valley area, and beyond. In particular we will draw attention to Lamb’s Dundee, its Quaint and Historic Buildings’ in our Facsimile copies. Also, to our collection of maps in our Library.
