Opening as a RC Chapel in 1541, and becoming Protestant in 1560, this Chapel has many associations with the Reformation, (not least the only intact pre-Reformation stained glass windows in Scotland), plus links with the Covenanters. For 300 years it was also the meeting hall of the Incorporation of Hammermen, as is evident by the internal furnishings of the Chapel. It was also occupied by Edinburgh Medical Missionary Society for parts of the 19th and 20th Centuries.
