Dundee Central Mosque was the first purpose-built mosque in north-east Scotland. It is not just a mosque for prayers rather it is a community centre for all.
Our mosque is not only a place of worship, but also a symbol of cultural and architectural heritage. Its design reflects traditional Islamic architecture while fitting naturally into the Scottish urban landscape, making it a meaningful landmark for the whole community. It tells the story of Muslims in Scotland—our values, history, and identity.
The mosque plays a key role in local life by offering education, charitable support, interfaith engagement, and a welcoming space for all. As we take part in Doors Open Days, we invite everyone to explore our shared heritage. The mosque stands as a window to the past and a door to the future—open to all, and part of Scotland’s diverse story.
For Doors Open Days take a tour of the Mosque, see demonstrations on prayer, the 5 Pillars of Islam, and Arabic Writing, there is an exhibition on the Qur'an, and you can meet the Iman. Come along to understand the role of the Mosque & Muslims in the local community and the wider context, and what it means to be a Scottish Muslim.
There will be guided tours every hour.
Lift access to top floor.
