The lock of Saint-Mammès is an exception on the Loing canal. Indeed, while the majority of the locks are to be bored, that of Saint-Mammès is to be bored. Dissected and intact, the lock keeper’s house is, with a few modifications, as it was designed in the 18th century. Its peculiarity is to be capped with slate, in a region where the tile dominates.
