Overview

The world of current Majorcan viticulture will be explained: vine biology, we will talk about pruning, nutrition, irrigation and other issues, such as the main local grape varieties of vinified grapes or the type of winemaking: white, rosé, black and sparkling wines.

José Mariano Escalona is a lecturer at the Science Faculty of the University of the Balearic Islands and co-author of the book Variedades de viña de las Islas Baleares (Balearic Islands Grape Varieties). He has more than 25 articles published in ISI magazines. He is an expert evaluator for some scientific journals and for the National Agency for Evaluation and Prospective Studies (ANEP in spanish). Some of his lines of research are: vine physiology, grape and wine quality, the impact of climate change on the vine.
