Digitaalinen kollaasi ”Kuva meistä” on viiden seitsemännen luokan yhteisteos. Pohdimme yhdessä omia kuvia, kuvien merkitystä ja erityisesti kuvan tuomaa muistoa. Ketä kuvassa on, milloin, missä ja miksi kuva on otettu? Entä onko minun kuva meidän?

Kollaasiin valittiin henkilökohtainen kuva, josta tuli tehdä digitaalisesti kuvankäsitelty niin, että alkuperäisen kuvan ajatus säilyisi. Millainen on digitaalinen kuva? Miten väline vaikuttaa kuvaan? Millainen on digitaalinen perintömme?

Kuvan omistajuus on tämän päivän haaste. Kuvan käyttäminen erilaisiin tarkoituksiin vaatii huolellisuutta, tietoutta ja välineiden hallintaa, ymmärrystä.

Eurooppalainen kulttuuriperintömme on yhteinen. Verkkoon jaettu materiaali on altis monelle, mutta antaa parhaimmillaan tilaisuuden tutustua, tutkia ja yhdistää yli rajojen. Meidän tulee huolehtia ja lisätä ymmärrystä kuvan voimasta. Anonyymi, kasvoton kuva kertoo suojautumisesta, antaa epäilykselle tilaa, mutta toimii samalla herättäjänä -näettekö minut, oikeasti? ”Kuva meistä”-teos on jaettu nyt juuri sinulle. Näethän meidät?

The digital collage “The Picture of Us” is a joint work of pupils in five seventh grade classes. Together we reflected on our own pictures and photos, the significance of the images and, in particular, the memory brought by the images. Who is in the photo, when, where and why was it taken? And is my picture also our picture?

We chose personal pictures for the collage and processed them digitally preserving the idea of the original image. What is a digital picture like? How does the channel of communication affect the image? What is our digital heritage like? And what do we tell you with the picture – about yesterday and tomorrow? To whom will we leave our visual memorial? Are we part of this continuum and do the digital picture still have traditions – the data history we are entering?

In our group discussions, the repeated questions were related to publicing the images. Although the picture has been taken in Snapchat and shared privately for BFF only, what if it is shared somewhere else, quite oddly and faked or with a “TW” warning? The ownership of the image is the challenge in our time. The use of the image for various purposes requires caution, awareness, knowledge of the communicational channels and understanding.

European cultural heritage is shared by all of us. Material distributed online is susceptible to many, but at its best it provides an opportunity to getting acquainted, exploring and connections across borders. We must take care of and increase the understanding of the power of the image. Anonymous, faceless image tells about protecting yourself, gives room for suspicion, but at the same time acts as a catalyst – do you see me, for real? The “Picture of Us” entry has now been distributed to you. We hope you see us?
