Overview

My one year in a Finnish school has been life changing. It not only helped me improve my creative skills but also brought me closer to Finnish culture and heritage. Before this, I had never done things like cutting a log, painting, or sewing. Now, I have made a drawstring bag on my own something I never thought I could do. My paintings, collages, and crafts, like collecting autumn leaves and using them in my art, show how I have learned to express myself in new ways. These activities taught me what culture really means: shared traditions, stories, and a deep connection to nature that brings people together. To me, heritage is not just about keeping traditions alive; it’s about being part of them and giving them new meaning. Through crafts like pasting leaves or creating string art, I have seen how deeply Finnish culture is tied to nature and how it inspires art and design. European heritage, with its focus on sustainability, craftsmanship, and a love for the environment, connects closely with these experiences.  I have learned how Finnish heritage fits into Europe’s story of blending tradition with innovation. The most interesting part of Finnish heritage for me is its connection to nature. Collecting leaves for my art showed me how much the seasons inspire creativity.  Through these creative activities, I feel closer to the world around me and better understand how heritage shapes both what we create and how we live. My time in a Finnish school has not only improved my skills but also helped me see the stories, values, and traditions that are part of Finnish and European heritage.
