Crossroads of Terrapanonica - Guided Cycling Tour
A special cycling tour titled Crossroads of Terrapanonica was organized by the Panon Wine Gallery in collaboration with the Moravske Toplice Tourist Information Center (TIC). Thirty-five years ago, teacher Jože Gutman, together with his students, mapped and established the Cultural Heritage Trail in the school’s surroundings. Ten years ago, the Slovani.si Cycling Educational Trail was inaugurated at Bogojina Primary School.
The tour offered an excellent opportunity to explore the invaluable cultural heritage of the Municipality of Moravske Toplice, with a focus on experiencing Jože Plečnik’s sacral heritage in Bogojina, as well as discovering the rich Pannonian architectural and pottery heritage, along with the winemaking legacy of Filovci.
The starting point of the cycling tour was in Bogojina, featuring a guided tour of the Church of the Lord’s Ascension, designed by architect Jože Plečnik. The route continued towards Filovci, where participants visited the Museum of Pannonian Architecture – Magda’s House, the open-air museum Pottery Village, and the colorful Gutman Homestead, managed by Zavod Pisana.
The journey then progressed to the wine-growing area of Filovci Gaj, showcasing vineyard architecture, traditional wine presses, and the geological features of Filovci’s oil wells. Along the Prekmurje wine-growing terrace, the tour led to the Panon Wine Gallery and Peno’s Cellar, traversing a segment of the European Cultural Route of St. Martin. From there, participants cycled through the forest along a part of the Cultural Heritage Trail to Strehovske Gorice and on to Bukovniško Lake. The return to the starting point in Bogojina was completed via a dedicated cycling path.
